This is the second heritage stock I’m testing (third if you count testing the reverse of the 300 lb rough). The texture is, as expected, subtler than the rough, and finer than a typical cold press (almost too fine, for my liking). The paper feels luxurious, but a bit flat. It was pleasant enough wet-on-wet, but dried to fast to be viable for large format works. Glazing was exquisite, with no muddying or pilling, even after a few layers, and the structure of the paint underneath still showed through without bleeding up. Like its cousin, the 300 lb rough, it was not an easy paper to lift, but slightly better than the rough. Like the rough, paint turned a wee bit drab on drying. Altogether a so-so stock, for my usage style.
